Humming Pipes but Generally Only in Summer?

by Clee2021 » Sun Jul 18, 2021 1:26 pm

Apologies for the long post but figured the more info the better...
Whenever we turn any of the hot water taps on in the house, we get a very loud humming noise from the pipes. Sometimes the noise stops on its own fairly quickly, other times we have figured out that if we specifically turn on the cold water tap in the bath, this helps eleviate the issue. We only seem to get this problem in the summer, assumably when the gas central heating is not on. It never seems to be an issue in winter. Can anyone please shed any light on what the issue is?

Many Thanks

Hi clee2021
Most likely cause is oscillations of the ball valve in your cold water tank. Probably best to fit a new one.
