I have been on this forum for 10 mins and read some frightening stuff.
It's clear to me that 98% of the population in the UK don't know about the regs and Part-P
My advice would be simple "if you find yourself asking a question about electrics" and how to install something or you have got your wires mixed up then do you and your family a favour "call and expert in" the amount of potenial fire risks I have seen in the past week alone would make your hair stand on end!
