Immersion heater timer constantly breaking

by brunel1 » Mon Nov 09, 2020 10:17 am

Hello, I am getting fed up with replacing the mechanical timer on my immersion heater. Every year, sometimes every 6 months, I have to replace it. I use the same settings on the time, its on for 45 mins each day. This last one I've had since March - its a Greenbrook timer. Doesn't matter who makes it, they all fail. Please can someone help. Its costing me a fortune in electricians.

You have two choices.
1) Carry on using a (new) small timer but have it operate a contactor, and the contactor operate the immersion heater. A contactor is like an electric switch, but it can switch considerably high loads with ease.

2) Use a Sangamo timer. These are considered to be the Rolls-Royce of timers and are priced accordingly.
