Installing a washing machine- plumbing already present

by winterbehaviour » Fri Jan 11, 2008 6:28 pm

Hi I want to fit a washing machine. The space for the washing machine is right next to the sink and the plumbing required, washing machine taps and sink and washing machine trap, are already in place. I am going to order the washine machine from one of these big chain stores but I don't want to pay installation fees if i can do this myself.
Am I right in thinking that this should be pretty straight forward? Do I just need the right connecting hoses?

Thanks

Most new washing machines nowadays are cold fill only. So as long as you have a cold tap, somewhere to put the outlet hose and a 13amp plug socket within reach, and the gap is 600mm wide, you should find installation very easy.

You'll probably find that connection cost is either included in the delivery charge or is only a matter of a fiver. It's not going to cost the earth and manhandling the b.......d thing about in a confined space is the worst part. Let them get the hernia.

Cheers
