I wish to install a linear drain channel parallel to sidewalk such that rain water flows from sidewalk into drain channel. The drain channel needs to be positioned below the surface of the sidewalk so that water will flow away from the house and driveway. What can be done to prevent the soil directly under the sidewalk from washing away when rain flows from the surface of the sidewalk into the drain at the lower level?
