Insulating internal floor of 1978 house.

by StewCall » Sun Dec 03, 2023 9:01 am

I want to insulate between the chipboard bedroom floors and ceilings. I've been told that a roll of Knauf loft insulation should do the trick. The other product I was considering (seems better for sound) is Knauf Rocksilk flexible slabs. My question is whether I need to net either product or whether I can get away with just laying the material in between the joists. I don't know how heavy either material is. I also don't know how thick the layer needs to be. The loft above is insulated, so this is just an extra layer of insulation between floors. Any advice, must appreciated!

Hi stewcall,
If you live in a two storey house there is no point in insulating between floor. Concentrate on insulating the ground floor and use pir insulation.
