Hi,
First time posting here. I'm hoping someone will be able to recommend a fix.
I've just moved into a 1930's semi-detached house, and while stripping the wall paper have discovered a large horizontal crack between the picture rail and ceiling. It is a load-baring wall and the room is above the hallway/beginning of stairs. The plaster has cracked, and is no longer level - see photos ( hope the quality is okay!).
Looking outside, there doesn't appear to be any cracks on the external wall, and it appears to be on the level or just below the level of the soffit.
I'm also wondering whether I should get someone to have a look at it - would it be a structural engineer?
Any advice appreciated!
