Is Damp in Renovated Property Something to Worry About?

Post by tom_oakley86 » Sun May 01, 2022 9:39 am

Hi.
Currently looking at properties to buy and found one which has been recently renovated to a seemingly high standard. One potential issue we found was upstairs. The rooms have been painted over lining paper and I found the damp patch shown in image attached. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Hi Tom_oakley86,
It is not possible to make a diagnosis from the picture you have posted. If it’s an outside wall it could be rain ingress. If it’s an inside wall it may be leaking pipework.
If it’s been renovated to a high standard it should not be happening - ask the seller or walk away, it may be the tip of the iceberg!
Regards S
