Is this normal that Grundfos heating pump runs all the time

by Dangle » Thu Aug 19, 2021 6:23 pm

Hello, I’ve just moved into a rental property that has a boiler with a hot water tank system. I’ve not experienced this sort of thing before so I’m not sure if there’s a fault or not.

The heating pump (Grundfos) is always running. It sounds like it’s gurgling and red hot all the time. Even when the heating is off or the hot water is supposed to be off according to the control panel under the boiler. It’s continuing overnight and I don’t know if this is normal or not.

It was so loud the other night that I had to switch the boiler off to stop the noise.

Does this sound like a fault? Is it dangerous to be running so hot?

Many thanks.

Hi dangle.
Sounds like there is a problem with the wiring.
The pump should only be hot and running when either the heating or hot water are on.
