Is this switch dead?

I have this switch that was tucked behind an old cabinet that was already installed when we got here.

Given there is only 1 wire going in, I’m assuming it is no controlling anything and I can just remove the switch and cap/block the wire?

Without testing it, there is no way of knowing.
Your light switch, that only has "one cable" would you say that was dead?
