Kitchen Electrics : Powering an Extractor Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

Hello,

I am currently fitting a new kitchen in my property, Can anyone tell me how I Can power my new chimney type extractor, Can I take a spur from the Cooker Socket into a fused neon 13amp switch then wire the extractor into the that switch, Am on the right lines?

I also would like to add under wall cupboard lighting, would this be the same procedere, spur from a lightswitch into a fused switch then connect the strip lights?

Your electrician who should be the one doing the work is the best person to ask . Unless your part p self certified you aint suppossed to be touching it legally . Sorry for the downer Regards Jeff

you are not allowed to do any wiring in a kitchen yourself you are breaking the law!
see part p in projects
it is not permitted to take any other load from a cooker point anyway,
your registered electrician can install fused connection units from a socket to fuse down for extractor and lights, you can't feed anything from the light switch as there will not normally be a neutral there.
