i have a mixer tap in my kitchen which keeps dripping. i have turned the water off and unscrewed the barrel bit. and their is no rubber washer at the end. is their anything i can do to stop the dripping or is it a case of new taps?

Are they normal many turns to on/off or 1/4 turn ones. If the latter then they will probably be the ceramic disc type and will require a new insert. Take the insert to a merchant and see if they can match it.
