Knocking pipes!! All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Hi,

When I empty my bath there is a loud knocking sound coming from the pipes which are covered by a boxed section. What is happening here? I can understand pipes knocking when they expand with heat etc... but cannot for the life of me understand why they knock when the bath is emptying.

See our projects secvtion https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects.htm and look for gurgling basin shower and bath. It could be that you also need to secure the pipes with (more) pipe brackets.
