I have just had a new bathroom suite fitted. Bath and basin in the same positions, new pipes and taps. Water pressure in the basin is as before, pressure in the bath has reduced dramatically and it takes at least 20 minutes to run a bath. Plumber is trying to tell me I need a pump. Why when the basin pressure is okay?

Pressure or flow rate ?

If you're talking about how long it takes to fuill the bath - it's the flow rate that is reduced.

I take it the bath flow rate was good before ?

It could an isolation valve that has not been fully opened or the problem could be the tap that has been fitted, If it was ok before then a pump is not needed - get the plumber back, ask him to check pipework and possibly change bath taps

if you are running water from a hot water cylinder/cold water tank in the loft, it is possible that you have chosen taps that are meant for mains pressure. Most european taps are like this and wouldnt be suitable.

Flexi hoses can reduce the flow also as opposed to copper/plastic piping.

Do you have the said tanks or are you combi?
