I'm redecorating a room in a 30s house and have found that the ceiling and 2 of the walls are lath and plaster, with the rest being plastered brick/block walls.
There are several large cracks in the lath and plaster walls and ceiling, particularly in corners and where they join to the solid walls.
In some places the ceiling is sagging a bit.
Can this be patched or are we better off removing all the plaster down to the laths and starting again?
I know I'd need a specialist for this and it's likely to expensive to do the whole lot, but is it only going to crack again otherwise?
The ceiling has vermiculite (no asbestos) above it so this would need to be removed if the plaster were taken off
