I am planning on laying a new chipboard subfloor in a room to give me a nice level stable surface for laying floor tiles. My question is - how do I solve the issue that this floor level will become slightly raised due to the thickness of the chipboard underneath? Won't the new floor be raised above the floor level of the hallway flooring which will create a bit of a step? Is there some way to prevent this? Thanks.
