Laying block on flat (concrete foundation depth)

by Paul-E » Mon Jul 06, 2009 4:29 pm

Hello,

I have looked at projects but no joy on info I require.

My garden slopes away from house in two directions so to lay patio I need to raise level. I have stepped foundations.

At the lowest point I would need 5 blocks (layed flat) at a length of around 4m to bring side up to level I require then step them accordingly across the front of patio then fill with hardcore.

I have 300mm width foundations and was going to peg at 150mm ready for concrete.

Is the 150mm concrete too much for the 5 high flat block or should I stick with that? I have read I could get away with 100mm ...would this be ok?

As I say, could not find any info in projects, If I have missed something please advise and I will look again.

Thanks
Paul.

Hi

Have you had a look at the garden retaining wall project: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/retainingwall.htm . Not too sure if you have seen this one but it may help you out.

Regards
