Laying laminate around fireplace

Post by kerry32 » Tue Mar 25, 2008 7:23 pm

We have just lifted our carpet and are going to lay wood laminate. We have a built in marble fireplace which has been placed on top of the old hearth. Coming out from the front of the hearth is about 2 inches of the old concrete which sits slightly higher than the rest of the floor. How will we lay the laminate around the hearth? If we hammer and chisel the concrete to make it more level, do you reckon it will be good enough?

Thanks, Kerry

Thanks, Kerry[/quote]Best bet is to lay an underlay and raise laminate up that way. Trying to level off the hearth sounds like trouble. also do you use your fire? if so there is build regs to consider concerning hearths.
