Leak when radiator is cold

by ronanjoshea » Fri Jan 16, 2026 9:53 am

Hi there,

My mother has discovered a radiator leak (living room). It seems to be near the bleeding valve (possibly behind the valve itself). However, she says it only happens when the radiator is cold and not when it is hot. Anyone have any idea what might be the cause and how I can go about helping her? Thank you. Ronan.

Hi ronanjoshea.
Most likely to be the bleed valve fitting is leaking where it’s screwed into the radiator.
You could try tightening it but you’ll probably have to close off the radiator valves and refit/replace it.
Regards S
