Leaking gable end cracked mortar

by superfurryexocet » Sat Nov 14, 2009 2:42 pm

Hi,
I have some water ingress from the recent storms in my loft.
I first noticed some wet patches on the floorboards at two points, one by the 2x2 timber post next to the brickwork and the other a foot or two in from the wall and slightly off centre but all the surfaces above it are dry.

The timber post feels a bit damp but the brickwork dry. I looked outside today and saw that the mortar at the geble end looks to have cracked and I assume this is whats making the first wet patch.

I dont have a ladder long enough to get up to it from the outside, what can I do from the inside ?

Budget is a real problem.

Thanks in advance.
