Leaking Pipe Work of Mira zest Shower Help Needed

Post by Redpanda » Sat May 21, 2016 2:13 pm

Our en-suite shower has been leaking, I've checked all the screw able connections they are all tight so the conclusion has to be the waste pipe from the shower itself.

I've looked on You Tube at Brocken waste pipe replacement, the thing is it isn't split or brocken?
Does any body have any idea how to fix it.

TIA

As you'll know by now I'm no plumber don't know the names of the parts that come easily off the waste water areas.

Thank you for your help (let's have a look)

those parts don't make a seal, is there a panel you can remove to look under the shower at the waste pipe

Yes but the pipe work looks sound, the waste pipe directly below the plug hole is securely attached to other pipes so not too sure about taking it off?

It is defo from the plug hole directly above the waste pipe. As I've said previously the view of the waste pipe looks in perfect condition? It is easy to take all the parts out that are in my previous pictures ??

Maybe I just need to silicon seal all the parts in my pictures so there is no way for the water to escape?.

What do you think ?

the pipe size should be 40mm,you can get a 40mm flexi to make any pipe alterations easier but sounds like you need to ask for a shower waste of any make

Turn off the water at the fixture shutoff valves or at your home's main valve. Turn on a faucet to make sure it's off. Remove the handle, If the handle sticks, try heating it with a hair dryer set on “hot”. If you still can't get it off, use a special handle puller—an inexpensive tool available from plumbing parts distributors or home centers.

Pry up the retaining clip

Pull off the stop tube. Pry up the cartridge retaining clip with a small screwdriver or awl. Remove the handle washer and then twist the cartridge stem loose and pull it out with pliers.

Install the new cartridge

Turn the hex screw by hand until it bottoms out. Snug up the hex nut by hand and tug on the cartridge puller handle. If the cartridge won't pull out, hold the puller handle steady and tighten the hex nut two full turns. Pull the cartridge out of the faucet body. Buy an identical replacement cartridge, align it properly and reassemble the parts.
