leaking shower unit All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

:( As a frank spencer of all things DIY itd be nice to be able to fix this particular problem on my own. The spray head has more than likely become bloked needs cleaning/replacing and a new PRD needs fitting. Its a Triton ivory electric shower. Is the above sounding the right way to go, and why do these things always happen on a Bank holiday?

Don't kick the cat...

..it's not the cats fault, cats do not like and keep well away from showers.

I'm not sure what the problem is here though, you said it was leaking......from where ?

Ok jondeau i didnt kick the cat..... i drowned it instead!!! The prob with the shower is the fact that it is leaking from the unit. I think it may be a build up of limescale which then forced the PRD to kick in, and once that happens a new PRD is required i think. Is this a specialised replacement part from the manufacturer or is it available at all god plumbing centres? Thanx for the reply Jondeau.

Sometimes limescale buildup is not just on the element;-- the shower rose can get clogged spray-holes. Try removing the hand-set from the hose to see if water still gets ejected from the main casing. A new handset or rose insert is cheap, but limescale on the element could need chemicals to dissolve away.
