Leaking UPVC windows

Post by debs » Fri Sep 11, 2009 7:17 pm

I have a leaking ground floor window. The water appears to be coming in through the top of the frame and running down the inside of the window, lying on the inside sill.
It only appears to happen when the rain is heavy and blows into the window.
Also have the same problem with my front door. There is a puddle appears on the floor which seems to come through the metal bit that sits on top of the door step. It's a wooden door. Am guessing this is maybe a leaking seal?
Any suggestions as to whether it's a problem with the window or something more serious?
Thanks in advance

debs,
Try sealing across the top of the window (frame to brickwork/masonry) with silicone frame sealant.
Inwards opening external wood doors where rain drives against them are difficult to seal, you can either have a special storm-proof seal fitted to the door and cill or try an extra seal down the outside of the door.
end
