Loads of coax(?) cables in new flat Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

My new flat has two blanked off socket plates near where the previous owners had their TV. I was hoping that one of them was going to be an aerial socket (and I thought the other was probably another power socket).

But having just taken the faceplates off, I see that they both contain what I think are coax cables. One of them has two coax ends and the other has four.

So now I'm assuming that the previous owners had something rather more complex going on. What's the best way to investigate what these sockets were used for? I'm still hoping that one of them will be a standard aerial feed.

Coax it used for all sorts, 50Ω CB and Ham, 75Ω TV and satellite 95Ω early LAN.

Regretfully it is not possible to say over the internet what each cable does or did since it is up to who ever installed what each cable was destined to be used for. You can try and trace them or use a multimeter, but you will need to know where the other end is.

I have to admit, I do get an odd feeling that they were never used for anything, they do not look used and why just a blanking plate, with modern communications I wonder was there no terrestrial TV and the "TV programmes" came over the internet. You could of course introduce yourself to a neighbour (You said it's a flat) and ask them what set up they have.
