Lowering 2 Ceilings for a Loft Conversion

by nomadic » Fri Jan 04, 2019 7:10 pm

Evening all,

I am in the process of buying a flat, that is more like a house. A raised upper ground floor and the bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor.

The ceiling height of the first floor is 2.56 metres and the ground floor is 2.75 metres. The loft height is 1.82 metres (from top of floor joist to top of ridge).

To convert the loft I am considering lowering both floors by approximately 25CM each to get the head height required for a velux conversion, not a dormer.

From all the searches I have done, I haven't found anyone who has lowered two ceilings. Look forward to your advice!
