Major Brick Work Failure in Retaining Wall

by spindwyer » Sat Dec 23, 2017 12:58 pm

Hi

We had an extension built a year ago, part of the job was a retaining wall. 6 months after completion the brick are delaminating and failing.

The builder has taken 5 months to come and see us and were stilling waiting for him to give us a solution!!

My concerns is that the main extension is made from the same batch of bricks, although there isnt any evidence on it it is still a concern!

Is it a dodgy batch or something else?

Thanks
Steve

Those type of bricks are not suitable for a Brick on Edge on a garden wall where they are exposed to the elements more than on an extension or house wall. Better to use something like a Staffordshire Blue.
