Hi there,
Complete novice at your service here, my flat has a lot of disconnected cabling (old thermostat when we now have a wireless one, unconnected light switch in the bathroom) and while I've been able to remove the uglier parts (thermostat housing eg) am unsure how to safely cover up the old cables or remove them. I know this is such a simple question but I don't want to hurt myself in the process in case. Would it really be as simple as covering up the ends with electrical tape and pollyfilla'ing them back into the wall or is it going to be more complex?

How would you feel if you were doing some alterations and found some cables buried in the wall?

You need to make sure they are dead, then remove the cables, do not bury them.

I can't, i know they're dead, i used a voltage tester but they are embedded too far into the wall without me ripping out the entirety of the plaster.
