Making good after electrician work

by AndyEssex » Sun Apr 26, 2026 11:16 am

Hi there

We've had some under cupboard lights fitted and I need to make good where the electrician channeled out the walls.

I've attached some images, I'm hoping someone can let me know...

1. Where the plugs are, can I plaster straight over this or do I need to put some kind of guaze/protective plate in to avoid touching the cables?

2. Where they've put blanking plates, can I remove these and make good or would that be poor practice?

3. Where they've cut a hole by mistake (next to blanking plate) how should I tackle this? Just go over the screws with plaster or remove them first?

Thanks in advance

I would just plaster over, but technically the wire between the two devices is not in the permitted zones, it does seem stupid, but visible wires, don't need to be in permitted zones, so until you make good, it is OK, only when you hide it is it breaking rules.

But it would not worry me.
