MDPE in SWA cable trench??

by stuweston » Thu Jan 31, 2008 3:19 pm

Hi, i have a thread running in electrics about supplying a summerhouse with SWA cable. The run is 60/70 metres. Now that i have dug the trench, it suddenly dawn'd on me that i could run a water supply in the same trench. My question is: IS THIS ALLOWED?? ie water/electircs urgh!. my thought is to dig down a further 10/15cm and lay the MDPE pipe in first and then back fill with sand before laying the SWA cable. My other thought is to lay the SWA cable in some conduit or trunking? any help would be very appreciated. rgds, Stu

Yes, you can run then in the same trench, they come into the house together.
Just make sure you use Blue poly pipe underground.
