mechanical protection?

Could plastic capping be classed as 'mechanical protection' when using it to cover cable.

in short no it cant. mechanical protection is steel conduit or bury said cable 50mm deep from surface of wall.

hi, No, it's only function is to stop plasterers damaging cable!!!
Mechanical protection must be metel, & if more than say a plate across a single joist needs to be earthed as well, regards SPARX

Thanks sparx.So if you had 3 legths of metal capping,can you earth them together by drilling a hole in each length and linking them together with earth cable(what size cable please?)
