Micromark 83300480 LED Plinth Lights Repair Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

A set of LED plinth lights in my kitchen have stopped working. They were dim for a bit, then stopped working. They are Micromark 83300480 (MM70566).
I thought it was the power supply, but I've changed it with the one from the other side of the units and it works. By swopping bits around, its the junction box that's faulty.
I've tried searching for spares, but I think Micromark just put their name on them and don't appear to have any back up.
Any ideas or is there anywhere I can sent the junction box/board for a repair?

What you have there is a PCB with sockets on it, there is no dedicated place that will even consider repairing it. (Long gone are the days of "The old boy in his workshop" )

I would guess it has a "dry joint" You could consider DIY since all you require is a soldering iron and some solder, you just need to remake the joints. It will take you all of 48 seconds.

You could put a test meter/bell set on one of the black wires & make sure there is a connection to each plug. Then test the other. If there is not a connection on one of them, have a look along the printed circuit board for a break & re solder or put a jump wire in. The other alternative is do away with that board "cut it off" cut all the plugs off & joint them all in a small junction box. But you would have to get the cables the right way round as most led's are polarity sensitive. IE: they will work or not work. 3rd way is to cut the plug off the one that wont work when plugged in & connect to the 2 screw terminals on top. The board you got only looks like a connection board with no other components.

If an LED is over driven it tends to go dim before it fails, if the power supply was faulty causing the LED's to be over driven replacing bits will take you around in circles.

So it may be better to renew whole lot, as you could be throwing good money after bad.
