Mineralisation and Damp

Post by Tittyc » Wed Aug 14, 2024 10:27 am

My internal 2ft thick stone and cob wall is discolouring and also blowing off the plaster surface. I can hack it off but I don't know what is the simplest way to treat the wall to reduce this happening for some time to come.

Hi tittyc,
You will have to remove the existing plaster/rendered surface to determine what is underneath. The porous elements in the wall could be injected with DPC liquid/cream and the wall rendered with a sand/cement mix containing waterproofing liquid. This will reduce the problem but solve it completely.
Regards S
