Mini switch on wall light

by sandbourne » Tue May 19, 2009 3:30 pm

I want to fit a wall lamp with a seperate pull cord switch to operate the light. I need guidance on wiring.

The New Light fitting has the following:
BLUE; BROWN and GREEN/ YELLOW

The Wires from the wall are as follows:
BLACK; RED; COPPER

Mimiature switch:BROWN

When I connect up just the new light fitting to the wall with the following connection the light comes on when I switch it at the MAINS

(BLUE to BLACK; BROWN to RED; GREEN/ YELLOW to COPPER)

However I want to operate the light via a miniature switch with 1 BROWN wire. Where does the brown from the switch connect to?

Many thanks.

Hi,
locate the OTHER switch terminal, there must be one!
take the brown from light out of connector to red wire and fit to second term. of switch, put brown of switch in with red where you removed brown from,
BTW the bare copper earth wire should be covered with green/yellow sleeving.
