Minimum Distance between Sink and Gas Cooker

by MikeRoss » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:51 pm

Is there a minimum regulatory distance between a kitchen sink and the hob area of a gas cooker.
At present I have a sink next to the cooker and have been told this is illegal. If I turn the sink so the drainer is next to the cooker will this solve the problem?

Hi

It is not covered under any Building Regulation. It may be a Corgi (now Gas Safe) requirement. Google"gassaferegister.co.uk/advice.aspx" for advice.

I am currently designing my kitchen and the B&Q website and catalogue says it needs to be 60cm away. It doesn't mention the law though.
I can totally see why, it could be very dangerous if you splash water into a frying pan etc.
