mortar in fireplace brickwork

by Douglas » Thu Apr 24, 2008 10:34 pm

We wish the mortar in our fireplace brickwork was white, not grey. Any way of achieving this (or lightening at all) without re-pointing? It's not dirty just grey.

D,

FOR A QUICK EFFECT, YOU COULD SIMPLY USE CHALK STICKS AND BRUSH TO REMOVE EXCESS AND IF YOU LIKE EFFECT THEN RE-APPLY NOW AND AGAIN TO KEEP APPEARENCE.

MORE INVOLVED WAY, WOULD BE TO USE WATERED DOWN MATT EMULSION PAINT AND APPLY SPARINGLY AND CAREFULLY TO ACHIEVE THE REQUIRED SHADE.
