Multi fuel stove install question

by big-al » Thu Dec 11, 2008 1:55 pm

Can someone offer some advice?

We dont have central heating and have just bought a 4kw multifuel stove to replace the open fire. The question is do i need to reline the chimney?

The house was built in the 80's and the chimney has a clay flue approx 9" diameter. A local suggested i may need to reline with a flexible metal flue. Is this the case?

Any advice appreciated.

PS understand the need for a register plate etc..

big-al,
Provides the chimney liner is sound there is no need to line the chimney. Don't forget to provide access to sweep the chimney and a cowl on top to limit the ingress of rainwater.
end
