Neighbours Extension Nightmare

by Fedup2010 » Sat Jun 12, 2010 4:30 pm

Hello, any one got any ideas? We live next door to the neighbours from hell. All started well, they wanted to build an extension, we had no problem but we shared a party wall via garage - they agreed to repair damage, provided a signed agreement. Completely destroyed our property and have done nothing but muck us about - now absolutely certain never had any intention of sorting it (this has been going on for 4 months). I wont even go into the rest of their behaviour, like working at 1am in the morning, parking over our drive etc! None of us are talking, they are ignoring correspondence. Cant decide whether better off to go straight to solicitor or go for them via small claims court for breach of contract? Cant speak to them any more - both seem to have mental health issues and to be honest, you cant believe a word that comes out of their mouths. Any one been in this sort of situation before?

You have something in writing, which in effect forms a legal binding contract so I would approach your solicitor. You may choose to engage a party wall surveyor but as you're at this stage already, there is probably very little they can do and they may refer you to a solicitor.
