I have a very old traditional boiler (Potterton) in my central heating system and would like to upgrade. A few years ago we prioritised a loft convertion and added more radiators to the system and at the time ran out of money to upgrade the whole central heating system. We would like to upgrade the system as the current one struggles with the amount of radiators we have (1 bathroom and 6+ rooms) and we are not sure what would be the best solution with minimal disruption. A friend recommended an unvented system but I am not sure of the implications if we don't change the radiators and pipework in the lower part on the house. I am worried that this may cause leaks. I am planning to go to a local corgi registered expert but don't want the wool pulled over my eyes. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Ronza,

Unless you use heaps of hot water, I would fit a good condensing combi.
Leaving the old pipework in place, is a risk,but a cheaper one (cred crunch)
If the system sprouts any leaks - it should show pretty quickly after its comissioned.
