New Floor before Shower Tray?

by coffers77 » Tue Aug 17, 2010 4:51 pm

I have taken out my old bathroom shower with a view to new wall tiles, tray and enclosure. The waste pipe connection is still in place.

I am doing the rest of the bathroom at the same time and plan a new wooden floor (bathroom laminate over floor boards).

Do I lay the new floor right in to the space for the tray to rest on (making a hole for the waste pipe) or is it sensible to fit the shower and tray then "butt" the new floor up to it ?

Any help appreciated.

Fit the shower tray first. The tray should not sit on the floor anyway and the laminate will not provide a solid base for the tray either. Another thing, if you decide to replace it in the future, you will have to remove the shower.

If you are clever, you can get the tray height so as the laminate will slip under the lip so you don't have to cut dodgy shapes.
