Hi Helpmeplease1,
Thew term Warm Roof is typically used to describe a roof construction which has a layer of insulation above the rafters, and immediately below its weatherproof membrane.
They are 'breathable' so reduce the likelihood of damp, without the need for extra ventilation. They allow the use of the loft space for use as a living space.
There are structural challenges as the insulation sits between the roof covering and the rafters that would normally support it's weight. This is particularly challenging for pitched roofs.
Please see this project (about 1/2 way down for more information on Warm Roofing:
https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/bu ... t_roof.htmIf I understand the questions correctly, there is no need for insulation on the floor of your loft, as the insulation is in the roof construction - assuming that there is sufficient thickness in the roof construction.
