New plaster but mist coat not taking General decorating topics, questions and answers. find help, tips and advice on completing your decorating projects

Hi, we recently moved into an older house had the full house replastered. We’ve waited 4 weeks for it to dry out before beginning to apply a mist coat and are seeing a lot of patchy areas where it seems to not take the paint as well. There also seems to be some splashes of PVA which aren’t covering and I’ve read that an oil based primer can help with those areas? As a side note the walls are mostly old fashioned block work and we haven’t tried any areas where the walls been covered in plasterboard. Any advice on what can cover this would be much appreciated. I’ve tried to include pictures if they help. Thanks
