To publish manuals that all can read would mean those wanting to break in could also read them.
We has this problem with the early Range Rover factory fitted alarm when thefts found they could open bonnet plug in a box of tricks which allowed them to unlock doors and switch on the ignition making it easier rather than harder to steel the car.
The house alarm to be monitored has to be maintained by members of an overseeing organisation which means any alarm maintained by the home owner has a very limited function.
Clearly it can be set to ring a bell outside if by-laws permit many areas only permitted to flash a light. Again this is a problem for DIY as one often does not know what is permitted in your area.
Unfortunately Nexus 8 is also the name of a tablet so hard to find info. It does seem there are key pads and phone diallers which can be added so it would seem it's reasonable quality. And it seems it is British so likely alarm installers will take it over.
But this having to use monitoring stations really means any DIY with alarms is out.
