I am wanting to partly wallpaper and partly paint onto a new plasterboard wall. I found some old articles on other forums that suggest using an oil-based undercoat, so that if in the future the paper needs to be removed it can be done without damaging the plasterboard.
This seems like a good idea, but when I look for paint, I can't find any oil-based paints for sale. They all seem to be either water-based or solvent-based. Obviously I don't want water-based, but is solvent-based the same thing?

Will this do the job?
Also, for the parts I plan to paint rather than paper, will it be ok to use a water-based emulsion on top of this?
