Oil heater

by Tee cee » Sat Jan 23, 2010 9:49 pm

The plug on our oil heater ( about 5-6 years Old) got extreamly hot, running constant for about 4 hours. The heater is in a conservatory and is plugged in to a double socket in the room that has been spured (single wire) from a socket in the kitchen.
What could cause this to over heat?
We are thinking of installing a convector panel heater that has 1500 - 2000 watts and wondering if its safe to plug in to this socket????

Tee cee,
Check the connections in the plug and in the socket are tight (turn electric off first) Make sure the fuse in the plug is gripped tight. If this doesn't work replace the socket and plug.
end
