Old gas fire

by mr methane » Thu May 21, 2009 10:50 am

I have an old Valor Copper Glow gas fire. I need to find out the heat rating as I've been told I need to have a vent installed if it's over 7.1 kW.

I take it you do not have the instructions and there's no data plate on the appliance ? these would both tell you the kw.

If the heat input is greater than 7kw then yes you will need ventilation.

I have had a quick look on the net and cannot find much on this fire, so must be getting fairly old now ?

hi what i can remember of these fires is if it has 3 or 4 radiants (white chalks) it will be between 5/6 kw input so do not need a air vent. can not remember any old free standing/wall mounted gas fires being over 7kw input. hope this helps..
