Our church has varnished old pews that have recently caused an issue. People sitting on the pews have found the varnish coming off on their clothes. We don’t know whether this is caused by body heat or whether it’s due to the pews having had spray polish applied. Running a hand over the surface, it feels fine. I tried to clean them once with vinegar but that had no effect. Any ideas? Thanks
