Oven tripping electrics caused by spider solved?

by alexc123 » Tue Feb 02, 2021 12:22 pm

I installed a new built in oven and all was well for around 6 months.
Switched it on and it tripped. Reset the switch, it tripped again. Tried
once more and it was ok. Trouble free for a week or so, then the same problem. I put up with this for a few months, then decided to check my
wiring to the cooker. The connector box lid had sprung open a little and
when I opened it fully, I saw a medium size spider had made it's home in the box. I thought to myself, no, surely not. I removed the spider, and put the lid back in position. That was 9 months ago. I've had no trouble since. Could the problem have really been caused by that spider?
I have no other explanation.
