We own a detached house with a garage attached to one side. We are considering building a second floor room above the garage, and continuing this two floor extension back 3m into the garden behind the garage. Our neighbour has an existing single story extension full width extending 3m behind their house.
I have two questions...
1. Our garage wall is the boundary wall of our property. Consequently, we will be bulding our second story extension right next to our neighbours property (although there is 2 - 3 metres of land before their house on their side of the fence. Could they object to our extension on these grounds?
2. Unlike our house, our neighbour's house has a window on the side of their house which would face our extension. Is there any risk that our neighbour could object to loss of light and so cause our planning permission to be rejected?
Many thanks
David
