I'm concerned about my house overheating. I've had reflective glazed units fitted to help with that and they have helped.

To further reduce the problem I'm considering painting the exterior brickwork white as I've seen advice that this is effective, and can help when used in conjunction with air conditioning.

I heard, many years ago, about a white paint that is very highly reflective and that is especially effective at reducing internal temperatures as a result. Does anyone have information on reflective exterior paints? e.g. recommended products, effectiveness, application.

Is it necessary to seal the brickwork before painting? If so which sealants are recommended?

Hi luddite1958,
If you have solid walls you may gain a limited benefit. If you have cavity walls it’s unlikely you will get any benefit.
The problem with painting exterior wall is that if there is any damp it will blow off the paint usually in patches.
