Painting on new plastered ceiling

I had a ceiling plastered about four weeks ago, can I paint straight on to it.

Yes but dilute the emulsion well before applying, I recommend a base coat of supermatt to start.

Supermatt does indeed make an excellent basecoat but it's no good as a finish so remember you will be painiting over it. Thin by 25 -30% for use as mist coat.

However you can use practically any matt for your mistcoat particularly if cost is a consideration. 2nd coat thin the colour you are going to use by about 10% and the final coat without thinning.

Trade spec paints tend to be thicker so they go further by thinning.
